The bay of Pigs was the Americans attempt to invade the Cuba government. Cuba had allied with the Soviets and the Americans were scared about communism. So the Americans tried to do an air attack on Cuba. It failed and not only was America deeply ashamed but Cuba was seen as a military ally to Russia

What I learned:
1. The Axis Powers consisted of Germany, Japan and Italy 2. The Allies consisted of Britian, America and Russia 3. Italy was a part of the Axis powers because Benito Mussolini believed that the Treaty of Versailles didn't give Italy enough. 4. Isoroku Yamamoto was the one that planned the Pearl Harbor bombing even though he didn't want to. 5. Joseph Stalin had signed a secret pact with Hitler on how they wouldn't attack each other in 1938. Hitler attacks Russia in 1941. 6. FDR died in 1945 and Harry Truman was elected as the next president 7. Neville Chamberlain tried to make Hitler stop multiple times, even handing off Czechoslovakia, but Hitler didn't stop. Questions I have: Why did Hitler attack Russia after signing the secret pact with Stalin in 1938? Why does Emperor Hirohito join Hitler? What was given to Italy after WW1? What did Italy really want? Why did Yamamoto create such an effective strategy if he didn't want to aggravate America? What I Learned:
When WW1 ended, people wanted to scapegoat, to blame all of their problems onto a specific people. Adolf Hitler joined a political group called the German Worker Party and spoke speeches about how Jewish and Marxist people were the reason why Germany was suffering. Angry over the inflation, Hitler tried to take over the Bavaria government. He failed and was sentenced to jail for five years and wasn't aloud to present his speeches until 1927 because they are considered to agitating for the public. During this time, Hitler wrote a book about his political ideas called Mein Kampf, which illuminated his German nationalism, his antisemitism and his anticommunism. He imagined that the perfect Germany would be a place of strong Aryan people with no Jews, Marxists or Social Democrats. To achieve his goals, Hitler didn't try to go the violent approach again, but rather worked his way up to power before he ruled the entire country. On October 1929, the America's economy crashed because of the loans they were giving to Germany. This sent a domino effect where the entire world had slower trade and high unemployment. Europeans were unable to handle this economy crisis, leaving people to look towards totalitarian leaders, which is when one person controls the entire state. Questions I have: Where does Hitler's hatred for Jewish people come from? How many people joined Hitler in the Beer Hall Putsch? Why would Hitler consider Aryans to be the master race if he isn't Aryan in the first place? What countries suffered the most during the Great Depression? What I learned:
The Treaty of Versailles (which was signed in France) was targeted towards the Germans to pay for the damage of the war. Germany was deprived of land and military and had to pay around 30 billion dollars for war reparations. Because of the defeat, the Germans switched from an imperial government to a democratic government in an attempt to salvage the country's hope. This new Germany government was known as the Weimar Republic, where there would be a prime minister and freedom for political parties, bill of rights and women voting. Yet, the Weimar Republic wasn't an effective way to rule a country, it was impossible to form a coalition, people were angry about the treaty and the new government and they saw the Weimar Republic as weak. Not only that, but from 1922-1923, the economy was fluctuating due to the rampant inflation. Germany currency became worthless, and so did the Weimar Republic. People lost faith and started looking towards extremist leaders to solve the problems the Germans had Questions that I have: During the time of the Weimar republic, were there any attempts to revolutions against the government? Did any other countries besides America help Germany when it came to the reparations? What were some of the political parties? What I have learned from this project is...
1. I learned how they defended and even killed many with just simple wire 2. I learned about the kinds of weapons they used and their mechanics 3. I learned about the badges that they received for contributing to the cause. What is going to be the easiest part of the Learning Process (Questioning, Collaboration, Research, Project Management, Craftsmanship, Public Product, Reflection) for you? What is going to be the hardest?
The easiest part of the Learning Process for me will most likely be Research for me as I do my work and find the information I need The hardest part of the Learning Process for me will most likely be Collaboration as I feel like working with people who don't want to work are harder to work with and would be easier to do alone. |
